#9 – KRAKED!

What happened last week on KRAK?

Every week we highlight the most inspiring content (both videos and pics) in the app. And we can tell you something: everyone’s on fire for this beginning of 2015! We’re stoked. Keep on pushin’ folks!

I don’t know if it’ll become a habit or not but this week again, Virgile had the best sense of humor. Check his comment to understand why 😉

Let’s start w/ the videos:

– we got some cool manuals last week; w/ a tre nose flip out by Joseph Garbaccio and a heelflip manual by Romain and shot by your servant
– Romain was on fire at Republique (sure the reason was: I was filiming!) w/ a little line on the ledges
Felix Baillet spent some time w/ his Pintode Crew at Gerland; they like Blandan too apparently!

The treflip seems to be THE trick these days:

– like a tre lipslide and a tre grind by Amelien Foures; or a tre noseslide by Kevin Ozcan

and this treflip at Marseille by Elliot Pre and shot by (his brother?) Hugo Pre

Manuel’s always in da place at Skatearea23 and never misses anything. He got a cool nosegrind and a sick kickflip this time.

This is 2015

We decided to give you some hints of what 2015 will be made of with us. One and only one keyword at the end of the day: SKATEBOARDING!
Well in 2015, we:

– keep on pushin’ (and skate harder)

– make our KRAK free app available to more and more skaters out there (and keep improving it all along the road)

– keep it low on coffee and cigarettes

well… or keep increasing our consumption

Nozbone Café Clope from NOZBONE on Vimeo.

– keep it real; LA wasn’t enough, we wanna meet you, ride w/ you; we’ll be in Barcelona and Berlin in the next few months, say hi

One Night in Berlin – Michael Mackrodt from Desillusion Magazine on Vimeo.

– play hard and work hard – as usual – trust us, we have some great surprises in our pockets, stay tuned fellas!

and… keep on pushin’

Interview, Kraken

Inspiration: Hugo B.

Tell us about yourself. About Treepod.

Hugo Bernatas, I’m 23 and I’m studying filmmaking in Lyon. I create on my own many and varied video projects (music clips, skateboarding videos, institutionnal movies, live,…). Tree Prod is a collective which permits to join together artists, but most of all, friends, in order to help each others and work on a common project.

How did you start filming/editing videos?

I started filming when I had my first DV camera. I started by filming my friends skateboarding. The year after that, I made some video clips to tell about each day of the festival “Rockomotives”. This is really when I started working for myself, and began to developp new projects.

Who inspired you the most?

My inspiration for skatebording videos is Jason Hernandez, the director of the Nike SB’s videos. But I’m also inspired by a lot of artists on Vimeo. They really make the best videos! And sometimes, simply walking down the street can inspire me…

Any funny behind-the-scenes story?

Not really! But I can’t count all the skateboards which ended on my camera lens…

What has been your favorite thing about using Krak?

It’s great to find some spots, and it’s really helpfull when I’m looking for a new place to film which isn’t ten miles away!

Any useful shooting tips for our Homies?

Try to find original angles but more important, enjoy yourself

What are you up to (your projects or wish)?

This month, I’m going to make a video part for Arkaïc Skateboard, and in January, I’ll probably realize a music video in London, but I can’t say more for now !

Thanks Hugo, best of luck in your projects and keep pushin’

West L.A. Courthouse

Thanks to Kev and Roy for the vid’.

The revival of a legendary spot

Good things are going on in L.A. and the reopening of the West LA Courthouse past July is one of them. During the late 90’s this street spot became really popular among skaters. Locals and pros were enjoying the multitude of ledges, empty fountain, four stair set and stage. Alec Beck, Aaron Snyder and the Stoner Skatepark Association were instrumental in making the Courthouse a legal skate spot again. They approached the city and Nike SB to make it all happen. So Nike took the occasion of the “Go Skateboarding Day” to restorate and re-opened to public this iconic spot.

Nike Opening past July 25, 2014.

What the Homies say about it…

Brent Strittmater
“First thing that comes to mind is the perfect blue ledges there that the city actually made legal to skate and second… I don’t want to ever be there for any other reason besides skating haha”

Kevin Wisleder
“I picture it as the Nike spot for technical skaters who like to film ledge lines.”
